Monitoring - We encountered a problem with our Detailed Message Report for SMS messages in all our regions. This problem relates to the status of these reports' message delivery receipts (DLR).
The issue is now resolved, and the reports should reflect the correct data as of 31/08/2022.
Please note that our Engineers are still working to restore the data from 25/08/2022 to 31/08/2022

We have found a fix ready that we are currently testing, and will prepare a hotfix with urgency. We plan to fix this issue today and will post an update as soon as more information is available.

Update - Update: We continue to implement our Phase 1 changes in each region. Please read the individual maintenance messages for these changes to stay up-to-date and ensure you have taken the appropriate action for your connection to our regional API endpoints for your service.

However, please note as part of Phase 2 of this program Whispir will decommission the legacy API endpoints on 11 October 2022, as described in the associated support articles and developer documentation. It is important that you have read the material in our communications on this topic and have taken appropriate action to avoid unexpected service disruptions.

Scheduled - This is to inform you that we will be migrating our API endpoints to new IP address ranges.

Important - This is related but different to TLS (SSL) v1.2 Upgrade for web browser users. If you connect to the Whispir platform through an API, please read through the following actions needed to ensure you can continue using the Whispir platform via API.

What do you need to know?
Whispir is constantly working to ensure our platform is safe and secure so that we can provide the best possible service to our customers. Therefore, we are making some important changes to the TLS (SSL) protocol versions that Whispir supports.

As part of this uplift, we will also be performing the following actions
- Migrating our API systems to new AWS services, which will impact the IP address ranges you connect to.
- Decommissioning our legacy API systems (api.whispir.com), (apius.whispir.com) and (api-sni.whispir.com), which now are deprecated.

What are we doing?
Phase 1, the remaining planned activities of Phase 1B
-We will be migrating our non-legacy API endpoints to new IP address ranges.
The permanently cutover activities were planned by region, for more detailed information please refer to the individual maintenance notification on StatusPage.

Phase 2 (11th October 2022)
- The use of TLS protocols v1.0 and v1.1 to access the Whispir API will be disabled. The minimum TLS protocol version will be set to v1.2.
- Our legacy API systems (api.whispir.com), (apius.whispir.com) and (api-sni.whispir.com), will be decommissioned.

Why are we doing this?
It is important for us to enhance the reliability of our APIs and ensure that we protect our valued customers from security vulnerabilities.


What actions must I take?
To avoid any possible disruption to your Whispir service, before 12th July 2022, follow the steps below to ensure that your API connections will not be impacted by our changes.

1. Ensure that you are connecting to the Whispir API using the correct regional endpoint

If you are accessing the API via api.whispir.com, this is a deprecated legacy endpoint and you must change your systems to access the correct regional endpoint.

The correct regional API endpoints are api.[region].whispir.com

2. Confirm IP allowlist is correct (if applicable)
If you have implemented IP-based allowlisting (formerly known as whitelisting) you must ensure you have updated your IP allowlists to the new required IP ranges, and have a process in place to handle future updates.

No action is required if you have implemented domain-based allow-listing, or have not implemented any allow-listing.

3. Test connectivity using test API endpoints
We have created temporary API endpoints for customers to test their systems against. These endpoints have an enforced minimum TLS version of 1.2 and are using the updated IP ranges.

We're upgrading our systems.

We are making some important system upgrades, making database tuning and configuration adjustments for added functionality and operational efficiency.

What is the expected duration of the maintenance window?
- 0:00 to 03:00 AEST (3 hours)

Will there be a service interruption, and do you need to do anything?
- All Whispir services will be unavailable for an outage period during the maintenance window, including the web user interface and API endpoints.
- The servers will not process any message requests sent to Whispir during the outage period.
- If you wish to send messages during the planned maintenance period, we recommend that you make alternative arrangements.
- If you monitor API endpoints from Whispir, you may receive alerts from your tracking during the change period depending on the type and frequency of your monitoring. Again, this is to be expected.

What if I have messages that should be sent during this time?
- They will be sent as soon as services are restored. Alternatively, you can change your message schedule through the platform if you wish to avoid the maintenance period.
- If you need assistance, please get in touch with your Customer Success Manager or our Support Team, who will be happy to help.

How do we know the change has been completed successfully?
- You will receive a notification during and after the change has been completed. Once we have completed the change, you will be able to log in to the Whispir platform, and the Whispir API endpoints will become available.

Do you need to do any Post Verification Testing (PVT)?
- Whispir will perform a series of operational tests (PVT) after the change is complete. However, we recommend that customers run their own PVT and contact our support team if they have any issues.

We're upgrading our systems.

We're making some important system upgrades to the TLS (SSL) protocol versions that Whispir supports for our REST APIs. These include several enhancements to improve REST API's security and reliability and implement new TLS security standards. This work is part of our TLS program of work mentioned in earlier communications.

This maintenance activity is the final phase of our security improvement work (Phase 2), which will consist of permanently enforcing the minimum TLS 1.2 version for all API accesses across all regional endpoints. Please understand that customers using TLS v1.0 or v1.1 will not be able to access API endpoints. We will also be decommissioning our three deprecated legacy API endpoints, at which point these legacy systems will no longer be accessible.

Target regions: AU, IT, EDU, NZ, US, AP and AP1 regions.

This maintenance activity is not expected to impact the operations of your Whispir services. You should not be interrupted during the maintenance window if you have successfully implemented the necessary actions described in Whispir's support article below.
